Your yellow brick road awaits

When you break away from all that is familiar to you and start something new, the opportunities are invigorating and endless. It’s like sitting at the helm of a boat with nothing but open water ahead and all around you. The world is your ocean!

Taking the first step can be scary. Sometimes the enormity of our goals and dreams make it difficult to identify and commit to a starting point. Then there are those life happenings that force a change upon us and wake us up to what it is that we really want to do and we spring into action. Being courageous and continuing to move, one step and one moment at a time, gives you clarity on the next small step to take and gets you over to where you want to be.

After nearly seven years at Salesforce, I have closed the door on that adventure. An adventure that began by closing the door on my previous impactful five-year Workday chapter. I’m now taking one moment and step at a time to build a career and life that aligns with my passions and values. The shift from the high-tech world, that has been my professional home for nearly twenty years, to building my own business, is huge.

Every day I remind myself who I am and what I am here to contribute. I am grounded by the foundational knowledge of being present to who I am and finding fulfillment and ease in my contributions. I have gone through most of my life not knowing or understanding and sometimes sabotaging and pushing away these simple truths. As I continue on this new path, I will build skills and work toward mastery in my passions and life. Dedicating ourselves to learning and growing and being our best selves is a lifelong pursuit. We owe it not only to ourselves, but to our friends, families, and communities to be present to our gifts and demonstrate them in all that we do.

All of our yellow brick roads are out there. We just need to muster up the courage to open our eyes, see it, and be willing to take that first step onto that first yellow brick. We can’t see all the twists and turns and we don’t know what surprises might be ahead, but we can take one step at a time, being awake to who we are and what we are here to contribute.

Be courageous and start!
