Sometimes we are depleted and need rest to rejuvenate. Sometimes we are in a lull and need a spark to ignite our fire and remind our minds and bodies what makes us feel
alive, productive, and empowered.
Generating that spark can feel monumental in that lull state, so how do we find our get-up-and-go energy? How do we generate momentum to create enough inertia to move and restore our internal batteries?
Forcing ourselves to “be energetic” is inauthentic and unsustainable and actually depletes us more. I believe that in these moments of lull, we need to shake things up to create and find that spark that turns into a fire. This looks like stepping outside of your normal routine and trying something new or out of your ordinary. It could be as simple as taking a walking meeting over the phone instead of video. It could be exploring a new outdoor activity or location, visiting a museum, trying a new exercise, reading a different publication or type of book, listening to music you haven’t heard before or haven’t heard in a long time, or making a creative new meal. There are countless things we can try to mix up our normal course of action. We don’t need to completely disrupt our routines that serve us, sometimes we just need to create a little friction to generate new thinking, ideas, and solutions that lead us to our fire.
What might you try out of your ordinary to spark your fire?
